The threatened rain never appeared, the greens were receptive from the previous night's rain and many players took full advantage, with an average stapleford points score of just over 34. David Cheek scored a magnificent 47 points, from a gross 82 (including two birdies) played off a handicap of 21. As we so often observe, golf can be a crazy game - only last week David got 2 shots back! Not any more - his handicap will be no higher than 18 now for the rest of the season. £21 and an entry in the Hall of Fame for David.

Runner up was the evergreen Bob Bright with a lovely 42 points, for £11 and a temporary 1 shot cut. 39 points and £3 each to Trevor Hones and Tony Coomber.

Don Dobbs and Dave Clarke took home a fiver each for 22 points on the front and back 9 holes respectively.
