Play golf and help transform the lives of some of the poorest people in Africa
Spotlight on Africa is a local charity that is passionate about making a lasting difference. We currently work in a peri-urban slum in
Eastern Uganda where many people have been displaced from their homes by decades of conflict. The basic infrastructure we take for
granted - education, health care, and clean water - is largely absent. We believe that sustainable impact can only be achieved by
integrating these key areas, and our philosophy is that development should be just that, DEVELOPMENT NOT DEPENDENCE. We fund
initiatives that are identified and owned by the ultimate beneficiaries and we do not duplicate aid efforts; we collaborate, not compete.
Because we are all volunteers over 95% of all donations go to our projects in Africa

What we have done so far:
 Clean water – Oversee over 60 water points, drilled 24 boreholes to provide clean water, so almost eliminated cholera.
 Health –Built an immunisation centre, trained over 200 local people to be voluntary health workers to bring basic health and
hygiene knowledge to the communities we support.
 Education – Constructed 2 schools which now educate over 1,000 children who would otherwise not have been able to go to
school. The school that we fund is now around 40% self-funding.
 Economic development– Established sewing & carpentry workshops, village saving schemes, goat farming scheme, small scale
fish farm.
What we want to do:
 Build more classrooms, a dormitory and a multi-purpose hall for the school
 Continue to drill more boreholes.
 Expand our Orphan & Vulnerable Children programme
 Build a Tailoring & Design centre and eventually a Carpentry centre

How can you help?
 BOOK NOW for our Golf Event with, or to join, a 3 or 4 person team. Aldwickbury has discounted its green fees
