Members update

Following an Aldwickbury Members committee meeting last night I have several items that I wish to share with you all young and old.

QUIZ NIGHT THURSDAY 9th NOVEMBER
Doug Stokoe the Club Captain is organising a quiz night on Thursday 9th November which includes a basket meal. I’m sure we can put a few teams together from the Wednesday group so invite your wife, girlfriends, boyfriends, brothers, sisters or friends to join your team. Teams are a maximum of 8, the notice and sign up sheet should be out in the next few days. I think I have a team of 4 so far but if you haven’t got a team or any friends please let me know I'm sure we can sort it. The more teams the better it should be a good night.

VOLUNTEERS FOR DIVOTING WORK PARTY
This is something I was supposed to try and organise a month or so ago and like a lot of other clubs who do this on a regular basis so that the fairways are kept in good condition we would like to do this at Aldwickbury occasionally. I would like to get things organised for either next Wednesday morning or the following week as the head green keeper says that the grass still has about a month more of growing to root and take hold.

If I can get a group of group of volunteers together for say 09-00 on a Wednesday morning in buggies from the club + the green keepers with the soil & grass mix we could then fill the divots on a number of fairways before our normal Wednesday game. I have been told that the club will supply bacon rolls and a hot drink afterwards to those that give their time but I need to get this confirmed by the Burhill catering manager.

I think an hour divoting, a bacon roll, a game of golf and a couple of beers after the game souinds like a very nice day. If you would be willing to volunteer please let me know by Email at alex.hall50@ntlworld.com

GOLFERS NOT RAKING BUNKERS & REPAIRING PITCH MARKS
This is an ongoing issue and appears to be getting worse right across the club with no group or section particularly being held responsible for it. The green keepers say it is members as well as visitors but so I can defend the Wednesday Group as well as the Aldwicks PLEASE ensure that you and your playing partners rake the bunkers properly even if they are not your footprints and repair pitch marks even if they are not yours. It is getting to a point where the green keepers have been asked to take a photo and it will then be name and shame time. It is for your benefit as much as anyone else's for us all to take care of the course so please point this out to anyone who is not raking or repairing properly.

Many Thanks

Alex
